De Winkel van Sinkel is very proud of the golden Green Key certificate!

The Green Key is the instrument for entrepreneurs to do business sustainably. We do this because we are aware of the world around us and are actively involved in the ‘footprint’ we leave behind. In concrete terms, this means that we are involved in, among other things, water conservation, waste separation and energy conservation.

Green Key is the international quality mark for sustainable companies in the recreation and leisure sector and the business market. Companies with a Green Key quality mark do everything they can to save the environment, without sacrificing comfort and quality for their guests. They go a step further than the normal laws and regulations require.

A Green Key accommodation will always use energy and water sparingly. Think of the use of solar panels, energy-saving light bulbs, light sensors and timers for air conditioning and heating. No more washing is done than necessary and, for example, environmentally friendly cleaning products are used. And all this with special attention that not only promotes your feeling of comfort, but also the status of nature and the environment.

The Green Key program is managed by the Foundation for Environmental Education in Denmark and implemented in the Netherlands by Stichting KMVK. The certified companies meet the standards set by the Stichting KMVK (Stichting Keurmerk Milieu, Veiligheid en Qualiet). Enforcing these standards is done in collaboration with independent inspectors, through regular site inspections and documentation in the online Green Key system to which each participant has access.

The Green Key standard is linked to the Sustainable Development Goals 2015-2030 of the United Nations.
